In Chapter 6, you learned that language development is related to a number of environmental factors. Read Chapter 6 Box 6.2 “Language Development and Socioeconomic Status” on pages 214-215. Then consider the following scenario: You have been asked to speak to parents of children at a lower income daycare about the importance of reading books and talking to children for language development.

(1) In your initial post, what specific recommendations from the textbook would you make to parents for improving their children’s language development? You should identify at least three things parents could do (providing specific page numbers from the text) and provide a rationale to parents for the long-term benefits of doing these things.

(3) Use the library or the internet to identify three books (based on the information provided in your text) that parents of preschoolers could read to/with their children (ages 2 to 4 years) to promote language development. Then describe why you chose each of these books.
