Interview a Nursing Leader and develop questions about the practice change process and how practice change was used to influence patient outcomes.  2. Discuss how the outcome was chosen and what goals were intended by the practice change process.  3. Include how success or failure was achieved and what metrics were developed or used to determine the outcome of the practice change.  4. Include a discussion of the practice change process, what the Nursing Leader’s expectations were and if these expectations were met.  5. In your own words, describe homeostasis. Discuss the importance of homeostasis. Give an example of a physiological process in the body regulated or controlled by a homeostatic mechanism. Describe this physiological process. Respond to the Classmate’s Discussion to the above Question as you would in a face-to face class by stating why you agree with their discussion and stating your point of view from the classmate’s discussion. The term ‘homeostasis’ describes a body’s capacity to maintain a constant internal environment in spite of changes to the surrounding environment. This implies that regardless of any changes to the environment, the body is able to control and maintain its internal circumstances within a specific range. An environment that is stable for the body’s cells, tissues, and organs is maintained through homeostasis, which entails a constant process of monitoring, feedback, and response (Vogel, 2020) . Homeostasis is crucial and cannot be stressed enough. It is essential for the body’s proper functioning and, ultimately, the individual’s survival. Without homeostasis, the body’s stable environment would become unstable and could result in illness, organ damage, and even fatality. The body’s cells, tissues, and organs need oxygen and nourishment to function properly, and homeostasis helps to ensure that they do. Moreover, it helps in eliminating wastes and preserving the body’s pH, temperature, glucose and fluid balance (BioExplorer.net, 2023).  An example of a physiological process that is regulated by a homeostatic mechanism is the controlling of blood glucose levels. Glucose is important because it is the primary source of energy that your body needs. After consuming carbohydrates, they can be transformed into glucose, which is subsequently transported throughout the blood to all tissues and gives them the energy they require. When the glucose levels are too high or too low, though, it becomes risky. Hyperglycemia, or high blood sugar, is marked by signs including increased thirst, drowsiness, blurred vision, etc. Hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, is marked by signs like sweating, intense hunger and thirst, uncontrollable shaking, and unsteadiness. 70 to 99 is the range for typical glucose readings. In response to high blood glucose levels, the pancreas secretes insulin, instructing the muscles and liver to take in glucose and convert it to glycogen for storage. On the other hand, when blood glucose levels are low, the pancreas releases glucagon, telling the liver to release glucose into the bloodstream after breaking down glycogen (BioExplorer.net, 2023).  I learned that hemostasis is crucial to maintaining our bodies’ regular functioning after reading the sources listed below. Hemostasis plays the role of a system’s ability to maintain stability and equilibrium between its internal environment and its external environment. I was surprised to learn that homeostasis affects many other factors, including temperature, glucose levels, and fluid balance.

In this module, you will explore the relevance (i.e., the impact) of the humanities. How can the perspective of the humanities have a positive impact on your current or future professional career? That is, how could you make use of these principles in the workplace? If you have questions for other students, feel free to include them as part of your response.

Imagine your client has asked you to custom engrave the receiver of his rifle. You bid out the contract, and return to the customer with the estimates. He’s shocked to see how much more expensive the hand-engraving option is than acid etching. Explain to the customer, in detail, the difference between etching and engraving to help him understand the impact of each on the value of his gun.  MIN 500 WORDS

Implicit bias, which we all have, impacts critical and creative thinking.  Identifying these biases in our values is a large part of this course because it impacts each and every decision we make in our lives…including our workplaces.  As leaders it is imperative you are aware of this issue and its impact on thinking, behavior, and change. Watch the following 16 minute TED talk with author Melanie Funchess and answer the questions below.   Ms. Funchess is Director of Community Engagement for the Mental Health Association for Rochester, New York. The speaker talks about ‘transformational activism’ which includes: 1. Call yourself on your own stuff. 2. Make connections with people not like you. 3. Use privilege to create equity. 4. Intentionally engage in non-biasing activities. Identify an incident from your workplace where leaders made a decision or engaged in a behavior/action that you believe stemmed from the implicit bias of those leaders in some way.  What was the result of that decision and how could a more comprehensive decision have been made to avoid the pitfalls associated with implicit bias? Note: Later in the course you will engage in an assignment that identifies some of your ‘most important values’ and how those values guide and hinder your critical thinking.

Identify and discuss in full: The current nursing culture and whether the bar for nursing leadership is set at the individual patient-nurse relationship or the community-nurse relationship. Give examples of each. Use at least four references to support your findings. 2. Review the Essentials and the 2011 Institute of Medicine Future of Nursing Report for statements on nursing leadership in health policy.
