Integrative Medicine The field of integrative medicine emphasizes greater personal responsibility for maintaining one’s health

Integrative Medicine The field of integrative medicine emphasizes greater personal responsibility for maintaining one’s health and wellness rather than simply relying on treatment options. This approach stresses the need to actively participate in and take responsibility for a healthy life by using an appropriate range of preventive strategies, biomedical approaches, and complementary and alternative modalities. If you were an integrative medical practitioner, how could you explain this concept to your patients in a way they would be open and receptive to hearing? What are some examples of ineffective ways to convey this information to your patients? Why?

Instructions In this Assignment, you will examine mind and body together by creating a presentation that describes an integrative approach to health assessment and wellness planning using yourself as a case study. This presentation should be presentable to peers in your own field of study. The presentation should be created using PowerPoint® (or similar presentation program). The Assignment should follow the conventions of Standard English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.). The work should be well ordered, logical and unified, as well as original and insightful. Your presentation should consist of 10 to 12 slides. Slides should be organized using short descriptions or bullet points with the main ideas. Full descriptions of what would be said during the presentation of each slide should be included in the ˜notes’ section of the corresponding slide. The written items in the notes section should follow the conventions of Standard English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.). Address the following items in the presentation: Include a title slide with the name of your presentation and your name. Introduce the field of integrative medicine and explain why this approach is considered to be holistic. Explain why a holistic approach to health is necessary based on research evidence for mind-body connections, as described in your course materials and other credible sources. Propose a detailed method to assess your own health and wellness from a holistic perspective that includes psychological wellness, physical fitness, CAM modalities, and stress management. Develop a holistic wellness plan that includes specific activities to develop, improve, or maintain your psychological health, physical fitness, stress management, and resilience. Discuss at least two peer-reviewed research articles that support the scientific validity of your wellness plan. Conclude by reflecting on how your understanding of health and wellness changed as a result of this course. Include a reference slide(s) following APA formatting. For APA guidelines, refer to the following sections in the Writing Resources: An Introduction to APA Citation Sample APA Citations APA Manuscript Style Requirements Use APA format for style, in-text citations, and complete references. The presentation should be prepared in PowerPoint (or similar presentation program). Additional written detail is needed in the notes section of slides. In this assignment, you will establish the foundation for measles intervention and prevention activities for the intended population in your area. You will apply what you have learned about Public Health, Epidemiology, and Health Statistics. Identify a prevalent immigrant population in your county/state. Describe demographic information (i.e., size of the population, educational level, family size, income, etc.) of the selected group within your county/state. Summarize communicable diseases that affect the population at a disproportionate rate. Provide a literature review of studies that targeted your selected population for communicable disease interventions/programs.

Imagine that you are an emergency manager for your local community Identify the vulnerable socioeconomic

Imagine that you are an emergency manager for your local community. Identify the vulnerable socioeconomic populations in your community. Assemble (on paper) a disaster supply kit to distribute to this population. What are the essential supplies? What is the estimate of the cost for the kit? What plan would you develop for distributing the kits to the population? Would you charge fort the kit? Prepare a community bulletin advertising the kit, including a letter of proposal for kit distribution to a vulnerable population representative. How did this process illustrate how a person’s social class makes preparing for a disaster a challenge? Address how interprofessional groups could assist those at the lower end of the class hierarchy.

Genetic diagnostic testing has been developed for many individuals with a history of disease in their families.  The testing can identify if an individual has a defective gene. For this discussion, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of genetic testing. Include whether or not you would have genetic testing done. Explain your answer. For this week’s discussion, I want you to watch a recent documentary titled’Splicing and Dicing DNA: Genome Engineering and the CRISPR Revolution’ (Links to an external site.) which was released in 2016. It provides a lot of great information on some cutting edge DNA Technology beyond what we discuss in lecture this week! After watching the video, I would like you to post in the forum but I’m going to leave the topic pretty wide open. Some points to consider (you don’t have to discuss all of this!): How much of this information was new to you? Were you aware of these technologies? What surprised you the most? What concerns do you have about this type of technology? What do you think are the most important or impactful potential uses for this technology?  Since this video is fairly long, I’m not going to require you to find your own reference to share as well but if you happen to find a related article you think the group would find interesting, feel free to share it!

First, let’s differentiate all the detailed vocabulary about all these cells we learned this week.

First, let’s differentiate all the detailed vocabulary about all these cells we learned this week. When looking under microscope what structural differences would you see between two types of cells. Now choose ONE cellular component (e.g. a part of a cell) that is found only in bacteria. Discuss what its role is. -OR- Choose ONE cellular component that is only found in eukaryotes. Discuss what its role is. For your second post, comment on a peer’s post. If they chose a prokaryotic cellular structure, please share whether or not you think that structure would be a good target for antibiotics and why? If your peer chose an eukaryotic cellular target, I want you to think about evolution and the endosymbiotic theory. The endosymbiotic theory states that mitochondria and chloroplasts were initially free living organisms that entered larger cells through endocytosis, but were not digested. What is the evidence, and are you convinced? Why or why not?   Minimum of 2 sources cited (assigned readings/online lessons and an outside source) APA format for in-text citations and list of references
