Prompt 2 – Chapter 14: Retention Management Firing an employee has numerous potential negative organizational consequences, including the discomfort of the supervisor who delivers the termination information, conflict or sabotage from the departing employee, and the potential for a lawsuit. In response, many supervisors provide problem employees unpleasant work tasks, reduced working hours, or otherwise negatively modify their jobs in hopes that the problem employees will simply quit. What are the ethical issues raised by this strategy?

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION Please find a recent news story on the Employee Free

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION… Please find a recent news story on the Employee Free Choice Act. How might this affect union membership? Is this good or bad for workers and employers? Why? AN EXAMPLE… A recent story that I found was in Staten Island, New York involving Amazon workers. Warehouse workers cast 2,654 votes in favor of the union which then gave the Amazon worker union a victory. I believe that this does affect union membership. If anything, this would make union memberships increase. This makes it easier for someone to join a union membership if they wanted to. I believe that this is good and bad for both workers and employers. Union memberships affect both employers and employees, whether good or bad. Employee’s rights will be protected and do not have to endure secret balloting. This can be bad for employers because they could feel as if the union has taken charge and they have no control. This can cause major problems and lead to financial loss and potential lawsuits.LusCh10.pdf

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION Some companies have ‘open compensation’ plans where everyone can find

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION… Some companies have ‘open compensation’ plans where everyone can find out what anyone else in the company is making. What are the advantages to this? Would you want to work for a company with an open compensation plan? AN EXAMPLE… Open Compensation plans are important aspects of an employee’s satisfaction in the workplace, as this could directly impact the employee’s performance and motivation at work. There are big benefits for workers and employees to know their salaries and pay, as this will bring a decrease in pay disparities. The transparency of the salary structure ensures the employees that their performance will increase, which should give confidence towards equal treatment and as a result to see that they receive equal pay for similar jobs. In an open compensation plan, there shouldn’t be any conflict among the employees within the company when they both work for the same position as the result being they will be able to view each other’s salaries and determine the fairness based on their own experience and performance. Those who are in high performance would enjoy the open compensation plans more, as this will show their results on a pay-for-performance level and based on seniority if the company chooses to view their employees like that. I would like to work for a company with an open compensation plan as the pay would increase my motivation to work, as I would be able to view my co-worker’s salary.  LusCh11.pdf

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONWhy are some car sales companies like CarMax paying their sales

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION…Why are some car sales companies like CarMax paying their sales associates a salary when most of the industry pays their sales associates a straight commission? What might be some drawbacks of this plan? AN EXAMPLE… I believe they are doing this in order to create a sense of security for the employees along with loyalty among the company, So the associates can work more efficiently without worrying about their paycheck coming from a sale they perform, and instead get paid for the process of engaging with the customer to make the sale. However, there can be some drawbacks to this plan, the associates might not feel that motivated to sell the vehicle because they know that they are on a fixed salary, and there would be a decrease in performance possible due to this, and this may increase the tension of financial salary. LusCh12.pdf
