Sampson and Laub’s (1993) age-graded theory of informal social control, and Moffitt’s
(1993) developmental taxonomy. How are they similar? How are they different? Finally,
which of these theories do you believe is the best explanation for explaining antisocial
behavior and/or desistance across the life course.

Historically, criminology has generally relied on environmental explanations for criminal and antisocial behavior. Within the last two decades, however, there has been an emerging aera of research examining biopsychosocial correlates and risk factors for antisocial and criminal behavior. Provide an overview of the biopsychosocial perspective of criminology and discuss how the findings of biopsychosocial research can be integrated into existing criminological theories.
