Discussion: Creating and Measuring Variables
Description
About
In this assignment you will be creating your own variable and also assess whether it is a nominal, ordinal, or interval-ratio variable.
To learn more about variables and levels of measurment be sure to read chapter 1 of our textbook and check out: Video Lesson: The What & Why of Statistics
After you have created your variable, you’ll decide whether your variable is nominal, ordinal, or interval-ratio and reply to other students about their variables!
Let’s get started!
Instructions
1. State your variable, and describe briefly how you would measure it.
- variables are characteristics that vary from one person to the next
- variables can be measured in categories, or numerical values
2. State whether you think your variable is nominal, ordinal, or interval-ratio. Provide an explanation for why you think your variable is nominal, ordinal, or interval-ratio. Use a direct quote from chapter 1 and/or our video lessons. Generally, the more course material you apply, the more points you will earn!
3. Reply to at least 2 other students by comparing your variables and/or making connections to their posts.
