In middle childhood, children begin to discover what they are good at, which can form the foundation for later choices. While schools tend to focus (and reward) a specific type of intelligence, theorists like Howard Gardner argued that there are actually several types of intelligence, not all of which can be measured by the kinds of standardized testing that happens in schools.
