sociological analysis

Description

You will pick a news story from a reputable newspaper, magazine, or online news source (i.e., Chicago Tribune, Sun-Times, Daily Herald, etc. No social media or personal blog feeds or “sponsored content” ads masked as articles, please!) Then use your sociological perspective to identify the societal influences in the article using the class’s sociological language and concepts. According to your textbook author Jim Henslin, “The sociological perspective stresses the social contexts in which people live” and focuses on “how groups influence people, especially how people are influenced by their society–a group of people who share a culture and territory.”  (Henslin, 2017, p. 3)

Explain why you chose the story and what the significance of
the story is in sociological terms and define those terms. Explain your topic to someone who might be unfamiliar with your topic or sociological language. You are to make a structured argument that there is something sociologically relevant in the story you chose. There should be an introduction, a clear thesis argument, an analysis or discussion, and a conclusion with a logical structure to your arguments and appropriate logical transitions between paragraphs. Your discussion should have a discernible track upon which your train of thought should travel smoothly. I look at your logic, composition, writing, and grammar when I evaluate your essay. Make sure that your essay is a well-written composition. Write, review, then re-write your essay to minimize your spelling and grammar errors. Good grammar and sentence structure and spelling count.
