I still have the transcript you wrote for me, and I was lucky, my friend who is an editor wrote a 350-word essay and I was hoping to combine the two after reading all the requirements and examples. So I am going to throw you about three pages of ex: AND OF COURSE, FEEL FREE TO CHANGE DELETE .If you feel something is not appropriate etc.

To the Scholarship Committee,

I’m both eager and proud to put my name forward for upcoming scholarship consideration as I pursue my dream of a degree in Radiation Technology. My academic journey has been the exact opposite of a shortcut — I spent 20  years in the working world before returning to college with a newfound focus and renewed ambition. I also brought along a familiar impulse in the form of my lifelong instinct to help and heal others.

My path will lead next to an AA degree in March at Orange Coast College and then it will be on to Cal State Fullerton to secure a bachelor’s degree in Radiation Technology. Those studies bring with them considerable financial burdens. I’m grateful for the help from FAFSA and EOPS but this scholarship would be a huge boost for me as I seek a foothold in the burgeoning medical field.

As a native Southern Californian growing up in Rancho Palos Verdes, I was given a front-row seat to the region’s dynamic base of science, engineering, and innovation industries. Later, sadly, I had a bedside view of my father’s medical decline at the hands of cancer. Together those two vantage points taught me that the frustrations of present-day medicine are clouds that block our view of tomorrow’s unlimited blue-sky possibilities.

I also learned firsthand, also, the societal value that medical professionals and dedicated caregivers bring to our community. My sister is an ER nurse and her husband is a paramedic. They have been truly invaluable to me both for inspiration and information and my fondest wish to join them as a respected peer in the healthcare world.

My excitement ramps up even more when I contemplate the robust future of Radiation Technology. Science has allowed us to peer deep inside the human body without a surgeon or a scalpel. With those miracles of innovation, we have reached (quite literally) a new level of insight. The vision of the future will only grow more exciting in the years ahead. With your consideration and, hopefully, your esteemed support, I can become a valuable professional working toward that tomorrow in a field that radiates opportunity and excitement.
