Discussion 4
Description
Reflect on your past writing projects (it would be helpful to pull up an old file, perhaps a Composition paper, for this).
1. Describe how the type of paper you are most familiar with is different than a scientific literature review. Think about things like audience, readability, organization, purpose, and how you avoided plagiarism.
2. Explain your current understanding (based on what you learned from this week’s material) of when to use quoted material and when not to use it. Has the way you approach this changed during this course/week?
3. What are some flaws that you commonly encounter in your own writing (viewed through the lens of professional, formal writing like we are doing in this course)? Why do you think these are “flaws” in professional writing? What strategies can you use to help eliminate those problems? Note any writing flaws that you have overcome in previous courses that didn’t come up in the material for this class.
